June 4: Canoing on the Nashua River - Tom Dufresne
Bring your own canoe or kayak and join Hollis Conservation Commission Chairman Tom Dufresne on a jaunt on the Nashua River near the Nashua dam.
June 25: Ponemah Bog - Marty Michener
Join Marty Michener of Hollis on a walk around Ponemah Bog in Amherst to view and learn about some of the more unusual plants that live in New Hampshire and that have adapted to living in this harsh environment. August 27: Dragonflies - Tom Young
Open your world to the amazing beauty and diversity of dragonflies as Tom Young of Merrimack leads us on a walk of a town property near Dunklee Pond. Tom Young is the founder of the NH Odonate Club and has assisted with the production of a number of Stokes Nature Guides. Visit Tom's website for pictures of dragonflies found in our area. This walk was originally scheduled for August 20, but has been rescheduled to August 27.
September 17: Mushrooming - Carlene Skeffington
Whether they add spark to a grilled steak or help with recycling nutrients in a plant community, mushrooms are a very functional and very important component of nature. Many are also quite beautiful to look at. Follow Carlene Skeffington of Wilton as she leads us on a walk to explore the mushrooms of the town forest. Carlene is a very active member of the North American Mycological Assocation, the Northeast Mycological Federation, the New Hampshire Mycological Society, and is the founder of Monadnock Mushroomers Unlimited.
All walks are from 10 am - 12 noon. Meet at Monument Square 15 minutes prior to the start of the walk. We will carpool from there.
